Starter Gems are a one-time free Gems grant for eligible new accounts, kept separate from Credits in your Wallet.
When your Wallet first loads, Calder attempts an idempotent Starter Gems grant, so the grant happens at most once per account. The granted amount is read from server configuration, with a documented default of ten Gems.
Gems are a separate balance from Credits, which currently power the Mission request and participation loop. Starter Gems appear in history as Starter gems entries with a granted status and are excluded from the reserved and refunded activity filters.
